1- WHO MAKES PERFORMANCE FORMULA?

Stanadyne makes Performance Formula. Stanadyne is America’s leading diesel fuel injection Equipment Company and the only fuel system manufacturer in the world to market its own range of diesel fuel additives.

2- WHO SHOULD USE OUR DIESEL FUEL ADDITIVE

Performance Formula can be used in all diesel fuels typically available in North American and Europe for ALL types of Fuel Injection Systems including rotary distributor pumps, in-line pumps, unit injectors, MUEI/HUEI systems and the new generation of Common Rail injection systems. We recommend you use this additive in all diesel applications from Mercedes Sedans or VW Jettas to "Big Rigs." Any diesel engine can benefit from using this product.

3- WILL THIS ADDITIVE VOID MY MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY

NO. This additive is recommended by Ford, GM, VW, John Deere, Navistar, Caterpillar, and AM General. Several other OEMs have decided not to test and evaluate the many different additive brands available. Therefore, they often make a "blanket statement" that they do not approve any additives. However, Stanadyne is not aware of any reason why a reputable quality additive such as Performance Formula should not be used in any diesel engine. Warranties should not be affected and indeed, several Fuel Injection Equipment repair/service facilities offer extended warranties on injection pump repairs if Performance Formula is used regularly.

4- DO I USE PERFORMANCE FORMULA WITH EVERY FILLUP?

Yes. To get the benefit from the additive you must maintain the additive level in your fuel. The Pint bottles are calibrated so that you can measure out exactly the desired amount of additive. If your fill-up takes 15 gallons you can easily pour in the exact amount of additive to treat 15 gallons so there is no waste.

5- WHY CAN’T I BUY PERFORMANCE FORMULA IN AUTO PARTS STORES?

Stanadyne markets its fuel additive exclusively through Diesel Fuel Injection Repair Facilities, like Diamond Diesel, because no one knows your Diesel Injection System better than an Authorized Service Center. Diamond Diesel not only provides you with Performance Formula to maintain your Diesel Fuel Injection System but also can provided service should you have problems with your Fuel Injection Pump, Injectors, Glow Plugs, Turbo or any other component related to your Diesel Fuel Injection System.

6- AREN’T ALL THE DIESEL FUEL ADDITIVES THE SAME?

NO, All additives are not the same.
# 1, no other additives or conditioners have the backing of the most respected names in the diesel industry. Many of the world’s leading vehicle and engine manufacturers have used and recommend Stanadyne diesel additives. The list of OEM’s include FORD, GM, VW, JOHN DEERE, NAVISTAR, CATERPILLAR, AM GENERAL.
# 2, Stanadyne is a Premium, all-season, all-purpose diesel fuel additive, designed to tackle virtually any diesel fuel related problem.
# 3, It is the only Diesel Fuel Additive to have Stanadyne’s Patented Wax Dispersant Property.
# 4, Diamond Diesel, in a recent market survey, found Performance Formula to be the least expensive Diesel Fuel Additive that tackles all of the Diesel Fuel related problems.

7- WHY SHOULD I USE FUEL ADDITIVE? ISN’T IT JUST ADDITIONAL COST?

Good question. The answer is NO. With the poor quality of today’s diesel fuels you need a quality fuel additive. That’s why we recommend STANADYNE. For pennies a gallon you are insuring the future of your fuel system. No other additive gives you all the benefits that PERFORMANCE FORMUAL does. You can double the life of your fuel system and can improve mileage and performance. PERFORMANCE FORMULA contains a 5-point cetane boost. The Cetane boost will result in better acceleration and power as well as up to an 8% gain in your miles per gallon. Based on a fuel cost of $1.50 per gallon you could save up to 12 cents per gallon. Given today’s fuel costs this could result in savings to you of up to 12 cents per gallon. Bottom line, Performance Formula can pay for itself immediately through increased mileage and in the future by extending the life of your fuel injection system. Check it out for yourself. You’ll be glad you did.

8- WHAT IS CETANE?

Diesel fuel cetane is an indicator of fuel combustibility. Cetane in diesel is the equivalent of octane in gasoline. The primary difference is that octane levels are regulated in gasoline by the Federal Gov’t while Cetane levels in diesel fuel are not. For example, when you by regular gasoline it has to have an octane rating of at least 87. There is no rating standard for Cetane. Sadly, average fuel cetane levels have been dropping steadily since 1966 when cetane averaged 50 to an average of only 40 in 1999.

9- MY FILLING STATION SAYS THEIR DIESEL FUEL MEETS OR EXCEEDS THE OEM STANDARDS FOR DIESEL FUEL.

ARE THEY TELLING THE TRUTH?
NO, THE OIL COMPANIES ARE NOT TELLING YOU THE TRUTH.
# 1 - The Oil Companies do not guarantee the diesel fuel after it is sold to the fueling station. Contaminants such as algae, water, and dirt can and do exist in Fuel Stations Tanks as well as your tank.
# 2- Ford, GM, Deere, Navistar and Volkswagen, among other OEM’s, went to the trouble to test Diesel Fuel Additives. WHY? because they received enough complaints from their customers to justify testing Diesel Fuel and the impact of Diesel Fuel Additives. These OEM’s in independent testing found that their vehicles ran better when they used an additive and they recommend using PERFORMANCE FORMULA over all other additives because PERFORMANCE FORMULA does what it claims to do and it is cost effective.
# 3 – Diesel Fuel is declining throughout the world and we can expect it to continue. In fact, a recent survey suggests that 70% of diesel fuel sold in North America does not meet the Society of Automotive Engineer’s (SAE) standard for diesel fuel lubricity. The three leading factors affecting fuel quality are:
1 – Crude Oil Sources. In the past, crude oils were selected with the end product in mind because certain crudes lend themselves to producing high quality fuels and other do not. As crude oils become scarcer, the ability to carefully select specific crudes is less economically feasible and compromises are made.
2 – Refining Techniques. In order to increase the amount of a certain end product that can be refined from a barrel of crude, refineries now use a process called catalytic cracking. The process is economical and produces a high quality product for gasoline, but not for diesel fuel. The end result is a lower quality diesel. Another refining issue is the process used to reduce the sulfur content in diesel fuel. The process has the side effect of reducing the lubricity of the fuel.
3 – Blending. The third factor affecting fuel quality is blending. In cold weather conditions, for example, many refiners blend kerosene (or number 1 diesel) with number 2 diesel to lower the temperature at which the fuel starts to gel. This has the undesirable side effect of reducing the energy content of the fuel, resulting in a decrease in fuel economy and the fuel’s lubricating and performance properties. In many diesel fuel injection systems, the fuel itself is the only lubricant for the precision-engineered injection pump.

10- CAN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID (ATF) BE ADDED TO THE DIESEL FUEL TO INCREASE LUBRICITY AND TO HELP CLEAN ENGINE DEPOSITS?

It is not a good practice and likely will cause far more problems than it could solve. Using ATF in this way is something of an "old truckers tale" and has been used on everything from Volkswagens to Class 8 trucks. Another erroneous strategy is to add old or new engine oil for lubricity. The problem with these "additives" is they are specifically designed to resist high temperatures and burning. As a result, if they are added to diesel fuel they leave behind ash, heavy metals, and other deposits that can easily cause costly damage to fuel injectors and other sensitive engine components. The best practice is to use quality diesel fuel additives like Stanadyne’s Performance Formula. They are designed to clean and lubricate engine components without leaving behind residues that can be hazardous to your engine’s health. The bottom line is, don’t add anything that is not specifically designed to be combusted in the engine.

11- IS STANADYNE ENDORSED BY OEM's (ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURERS)?

Yes- Stanadyne is endorsed by Ford, GM, Navistar, Deere, Caterpillar, VW, AM General and Volvo Penta. more...
